Chemical Level Transmitter

Fluidyne’s chemical level transmitter is designed for accurate and reliable level measurement of chemicals, solvents, fuels and light oils stored in service and bulk storage tanks.

Based on the hydrostatic measurement principle, the chemical level transmitter uses a pressure sensor to determine liquid level from hydrostatic pressure. Designed for demanding industrial applications, the hydrostatic level transmitter features SS316L wetted parts and provides local level indication with multiple retransmission options.

It can also be used as a fuel level transmitter for diesel and other compatible fuels, with ATEX and IECEx certified configurations available for hazardous-area installations.

FAQ’s

A chemical level transmitter continuously measures liquid level inside a chemical or fuel storage tank. A hydrostatic chemical level transmitter measures the pressure created by the liquid column above its sensing diaphragm. This pressure corresponds to liquid height. The Fluidyne chemical level transmitter uses a stainless-steel piezoresistive pressure sensor and can display the measured tank level in millimetres and percentage.
A chemical pressure transmitter requires wetted materials compatible with the chemical being measured. The Fluidyne chemical level transmitter uses an SS316L diaphragm and SS316L wetted parts, with Viton or EPDM seals. For hazardous liquids such as diesel and flammable chemicals, the chemical level transmitter incorporates a flameproof, weatherproof enclosure and is suitable for PESO-certified Zone 1 installations.
A chemical level transmitter provides continuous and reliable tank level measurement, reducing dependence on manual level checks. The Fluidyne chemical level transmitter offers accuracy up to 0.5%, onsite calibration, local level indication and programmable alarms. The hydrostatic level transmitter also supports 4–20 mA and RS485 Modbus RTU outputs, with optional relay outputs for applications such as pump control.
A chemical level transmitter can be used for continuous measurement in service tanks and bulk storage tanks. The Fluidyne chemical level transmitter is specifically designed for diesel, lubricating oils and chemical solvents. Typical applications include petrochemical plants, solvent storage and fuel storage installations. As a fuel level transmitter, it provides continuous measurement where operators require local indication or retransmission of tank level.
A chemical level transmitter using hydrostatic measurement is suitable when compatible wetted components can remain in contact with the stored liquid. A hydrostatic level transmitter determines level from liquid-column pressure and is therefore influenced by liquid density. Selection should consider chemical compatibility, tank height, temperature and hazardous-area requirements. Fluidyne’s chemical level transmitter is designed for measurement ranges up to 3000 mm.
A chemical level transmitter should be periodically inspected for deposits, blockage and deterioration of its wetted components or seals. Tank level readings should also be periodically verified against a known reference. The Fluidyne chemical level transmitter incorporates an externally mounted sensor arrangement and provides onsite calibration capability. Regular inspection and calibration verification help the hydrostatic level transmitter maintain reliable measurement over extended service periods.
